Pensacola


Pensacola The Beautiful Emerald Coast

This growing and thriving metropolis is known as the Redneck Riviera, The City of Five Flags and the home of the Blue Angels. It is one of the oldest cities in Florida that has a rich history that is celebrated nearly all year long.

It is a lovely area with tall palms, sandy white beaches and emerald blue-green waters that has been a delightful area for many enchanting discoveries for 450 years.

It is rich in Hispanic presences and architecture yet moving along very nicely with modern conveniences in architecture.

The climate here offers short, mild winters and hot, humid summers, with occasional evening thunderstorms. Here you can enjoy a multitude of interesting water sports and activities, whether you enjoy fishing, boating and sailing, swimming, skiing or snorkeling as well as many other interesting adventures in the Deep South.

A Brief History:

Ponce de Leon first charted the area back in 1513. It was the first European settlement in the United States in 1559, and the Spanish ruled it for nearly 240 years. It has traded hands four times since then. The French got it from Spain, the British from the French and then it became the property of the Confederacy and then to the USA.

Since first being discovered by others than the Native Americans there has been five flags planted in her grounds, which is the reasoning of it being known as the City of Five Flags. In fact, each year they celebrate these historical occurrences during the Festival of Five Flags.

The historic architecture in the area is inspiring whether you are walking along the old streets or the waterways in the area.

Entertainment and Recreation:

You, your family and friends can enjoy the magical history and modern conveniences of this area. There is a wide variety of entertainment and recreational pleasures to take in while living or visiting the area.

For instance, you may enjoy the Double Bridge Run, Pensacola Marathon, Santa Rosa Triathlon, the Greater Gulf Coast Arts Festival, Pensacola Mardi Gras, Pensacola Bay Area International Film Festival, and Blues on the Beach, Cajun Creole Fiesta, Frank Brown International Songwriter's Festival, the Jazz Brunch, Open Mike Night, the Pensacola JazzFest or the Reggae Fest.

You may also consider the various fishing tournaments and golf tournaments.

When you are in the mood for taking in a few rounds of golf be sure to check out the local and surrounding golf clubs such as Marcus Pointe, Perdido Bay, Green Meadows, Osceola Golf Course, Creekside Golf Course and Scenic Hills Country Club.

Of course, there are many others in and around the area, so you are sure to find the perfect green to suit your particular desire for golf.

Accommodations:

This city has a lot to offer for anyone who may be interested in visiting the area as a tourist as well as for the general population living in the area.

However, while you are visiting as a tourist you may need a good place to stay. This area provides many options in accommodations from hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, bungalows, condominiums and so much more.

Keep in mind that this area is always a busy place as well as a being a wonderful and magnetic tourist attraction. Always make sure to book any reservations well in advance to secure your accommodations and lodgings for visiting and staying at the Emerald Coast.
