El Campeon
10400 Country Rd 48, Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida 34737
El Campeon, built in 1926, is one of the south's oldest golf courses, it is one of the two golf courses in the Mission Inn Resort, in Howey-in-the-Hills.
Here course architect, Charles E. Clarke of Troon, Scotland, blended unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design.
Rolling fairways and undulating greens only begin to characterize the course.
The course's signature hole is the par 5, 17th, a long, double dogleg that has more obstacles than some entire courses.
The tree lines fairways forces you to keep the ball in play or face the consequenses. In some instances the greens are not vissible because of the elevation changes, accuracy is a must if you want to score well.
