When people think of vacationing or moving to Florida, there are so many great attractions to explore that it can be difficult to choose the right city.

With the great weather that the Florida area can offer, there aren't too many days that will keep you off a Florida golf course. Not to be left out are some of the oldest courses, these came into popularity when the state was beginning to become a huge vacation area.

The west coast has some great Florida golf opportunities. Sanibel Island is one that has something to offer for all of your traveling companions. While you are on the links, the others can explore their wild life preserve or go shelling on one of the most popular shell beaches in the country.

Punta Gorda has a selection of courses. From public to private, from novice to pro. The city that gained notoriety during hurricane Charlie has some of the best courses in the state.

Not far from Punta Gorda are Live Oak GC and RV Park in Arcadia or Port Charlotte GC in Port Charlotte. Both of these are public courses and welcome you.

Farther south on our renowned west coast is Naples. Eagle Lakes GC, The Links of Naples,The GC at Fiddlers Creek are just three of the many golf courses in the Naples area. Several of which are award winning courses.

That is just a few of the many small town golf courses that are available on the Gulf Coast of this beautiful state.

On the Atlantic side you may consider Boynton Beach. Where is it? Just a stones throw, or golf ball throw, from Palm Beach and other larger cities. Although several are private, Cypress Creek CC is a public course that has received a four star rating. Westchester Golf & Country club offers several different courses including a par 3 course for starters.

Florida golf is year round golfing at its best is to be found throughout the state. The white sandy beaches of the west coast are dotted with courses tucked away in small towns and villages.

The central Florida towns have as many hidden treasures as the larger advertised courses. You don't need to visit Miami to find a really enjoyable round in southern Florida either.

While Orlando's theme parks may be the big attraction for some the golf courses tucked away in the smaller towns around Orlando welcome you with people that are happy to see you and will make your visit an enjoyable one.

The trick is not to limit yourself to major cities that are often crowded and very expensive. Some of the smaller cities have comparable courses for a lower price. The enjoyment is the same.

Florida golf is not just golf... It is a wonderful game that can be enjoyed by all ages, 12 months out of the year in Florida.
